Mission Possible - "Our World Working For ALL of Us"

We CAN Make THE Difference!

THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 15th to 23rd Chalk4Peace!

You are invited to Take Action! - ("Scroll down for WHAT CAN YOU DO?")
To Participate in this GLOBAL outpouring of public art. Where we
makeour personal statements for peace on the pavements and sidewalks
of our cities all over our world.

Chalk4Peace IS HAPPENING!

All around the globe, together we are decorating, dedicating and
declaring, in deep sincerity our collective call for peace.

Chalk4Peace is about our empowerment. We The People, our global
culture, all people everywhere and our common desire to live in peace.

The Chalk4Peace project has already transformed the experience of
thousands of people attending demonstrations for peace all over the
world during the past 4 years. Chalk4Peace is both a tool and a
conduit for non violent public self expression,
and participation in the growing global movement for peace.

Chalk4Peace is an opportunity for all of us of all ages to make our
feelings known, especially the young, whose future is in dire
jeopardy as our global village falls faster and faster into the fear
breeding fear breeding fear spiral.

Our global culture is teetering on the edge of extinction.

No 1 person alone can turn this around, but together WE CAN!

"The Structure of world peace cannot be the work of one man, one
party,or one nation. It must be a peace which rests on the
cooperative effort of the whole world"
... Eleanor Roosevelt

Our basic human instincts drive us to seek safety. This is what this
chaos is all about. Our essential human survival instincts are acting
out of context with the wider global cultural need resulting in
mistrust, fear and conflict.

Everywhere the media bombards us with WAR TALK, distractions and
negative belief patterns that encourage us to believe that the future
of our world is out of our hands entirely.

One place we still have communal access to, is OUR STREETS.

We can balance our GLOBAL CONVERSATION with collective self-
expression using OUR STREETS AS OUR MEDIA!

Chalk4Peace is one step, a catalyst that can transform our global
conversation as "we the people", en masse make our statement that is
our common aspiration for PEACE.

START NOW! Just DO IT!

Carry some chalk with you, invite a friend with you, to chalk
inspirations on the pavement whenever and wherever you fancy.

Chalk is harmless, cheap and washes away within a few days.

Especially PARTICIPATE in the Sept 15th to 23rd
GLOBAL Chalk4Peace ACTION!

Make it happen in your Community!

(Scroll down for "WHAT CAN YOU DO?")

Lets us turn our grey streets into a living river of colour and
possibility - With poetry, hearts, peace symbols, empowering
statements, also expressions of our frustrations and despair.

All will be seen for several days by thousands of people, then as
they are washed away by the elements WE CAN CONTINUE to find fresh
places to Chalk4Peace.

We don't need to be an artist to Chalk4Peace. Every statement,
however small or large becomes part of the amazing tapestry that is
our global future.

This unique event conceivably, could be the largest of its kind in
modern history. It is a global effort that is happening.

We The People are spreading the word and making the effort to be a
part of this huge creative endeavour to bring Peace back into the
equation.

It is our goal for at least one million or more of us to participate
with this sidewalk/pavement chalk extravaganza, at thousands of
locations, in as many countries, cities and towns around the world as
is possible.

A CHANCE TO DANCE OUR PRAYERS INTO THE EARTH!!!

by puredawn @ 2006-09-03 - 13:46:24

A letter from James Twyman
This year I'm proud to be the MC for the Northern California Earthdance extravaganza on September 16th (to be broadcast live online). This is the 10th anniversary of the worldwide event which is being celebrated in over 250 locations. Last year the Beloved Community email list helped create many smaller home-based events, and we're hoping to repeat that success. Imagine over 1000 gatherings with people celebrating and dancing their prayers of peace. We hope you'll join us, either at one of the larger events or at a party of your own.

For more info on the celebration, locations or how you can sponsor your own event, go to www.EarthDance.org.

If you live on the west coast of the US I hope you'll be able to join me at the main event in Laytonville, California. Some of the featured acts will be Ani DiFranco, India. Arie and Ozomatli. Special guests include Arun Gandhi, Wavy Gravy and Barbara Marx Hubbard. Indigenous Elders from many nations around the world will also be at Earthdance sharing their wisdom. I'll also be performing on the main stage between acts. Then, at the same time around the world, the Earthdance Prayer for Peace will be prayed by each group around the world, joining the energy together as one. (The peace prayer is listed at the bottom of this email.)

Why do I think this event is so important?

It's time for the younger and older generations to come together and focus their energies for creating a peaceful planet. As I travel to events around the world I am usually surprised that "New Thought" teachings primarily appeal to the over-40 crowd. The younger generation is as dedicated as we are to shifting the paradigm, but they tend to respond to a different energy -- usually based on music and dance. My goal is to participate in more and more events where every group feels comfortable coming together as one, and that's why much of my energy for the next several years will be to promote these diverse expressions and events around the world. I hope you'll join me.

Give Peace A Dance!!!

Here's another easy way to participate:

The PeaceWave
>
The PeaceWave is a grassroots "Wave of Peace" that is being spread across the globe through the organic process of "person to person" interaction and connectivity. The campaign has designed a series of creative business-size cards with quotes from many of the great peacemakers of our time. From Mahatma Gandhi to Bob Marley to even Jimi Hendrix, these are the souls that have inspired millions of people, but it's just the beginning. The campaign organizers would love to send you a package of the cards to spread and share, amplifying peace everywhere you go.

Go to: http://www.thepeacewave.org/?aid=jt
to receive your cards.

Each card contains a special peace-quote from well-known peace leaders, from Mahatma Gahdhi to Bob Marley. Sharing these beautiful cards is a simple and touching way to show your commitment to a peaceful world and at the same time you can impact thousands of lives through the simple process of sharing the resonance of peace.

An exciting feature of the "PeaceWave" campaign is the ability to track each card as it makes its journey of peace across the world. On the back of each card is a special tracking number that you can enter into the PeaceWave website- and discover where the card started and where is has traveled. By entering your location you will keep the journey alive and once you pass the card along to someone else you can encourage them to do the same. You can then visit the website at anytime to track the progress of each PeaceWave Card across throughout the world.

Currently over 700,000 Passalong Cards are in circulation in over 80 countries.

We hope that you'll be able to join us at the Earthdance celebration, and spread the PeaceWave everywhere you go.

In Peace,
James Twyman

Prayer for Peace:

One world united.
We dance for peace and the healing of our planet Earth
Peace for all nations.
Peace for our communities.
And peace within ourselves.
As we join all dance floors across the world,
let us connect heart to heart.
Through our diversity we recognize Unity.
Through our compassion we recognize Peace.

Mahatma Gandhi Day

by puredawn @ 2006-09-03 - 12:24:42

The Largest Peace Vigil- Ever

Since the recent escalation of violence in Sri Lanka, beginning
February 18,
2006, a series of spiritually-based events have been held across the
country.
This new Sarvodaya peace initiative began with a
ten-thousand-participant
peace meditation in Trincomalee on February 18, 2006, and will
culminate
with the Meditation for Universal Peace Consciousness, which will be
held
on Mahatma Gandhi Day, October 2, 2006.

On this day in Anuradhapura more than one million people will assemble
and
meditate to achieve universal peace consciousness. It is hoped that a
large
number of people in other nations in different parts of the world will
join us on this
day. The event at Anuradhapura will be broadcast live for those who
wish to
participate from their own homes.

This whole programme will revolve around the magnificent aura of my
beautiful friends like you. Please drop all your programms to be with
me
on this day. You will no doubt add The international appeal ~ the
universal
tone colours ~ the unconditional love to the whole event.
You would never imagine how magnificent it would be to
stand before A ONE MILLION WHITE CLAD NON-VIOLENT PEACE FORCE
holding an oil lamp meditating for the wellbeing of entire human race.
You would never imagine the sound of silence that will change the
course of
human history. You would never imagine the sound of bombs not
exploding of
rockets not launched...

I am hopeful that you will drop all your responsibilities to be with
me on
this day that will create the critical mass of spiritual consciousness.

INFORMATION ON THE WORLD PEACE FLAME

"The World Peace Flame is a symbol of peace, unity, freedom and truth.
It
reminds us of the essential freedom of the human spirit to create
peace at
any time under any circumstances."

Dr Mansukh Patel

The World Peace Flame was created in July 1999 when seven live flames,
lit
by prominent peacemakers on five continents, were flown across the
oceans
by military air forces and commercial airlines and united into one
eternal
Flame.

It is being installed in monuments around the world and presented to
world
leaders. It has opened events such as the Parliament of the World's
Religions in Cape Town and Barcelona, the G8 Summit in Okinawa, Japan,
Cinema for Peace at the Berlin International Film Festival, and the
Earth
Champions environmental awards in Switzerland. The World Peace Flame
has
united Ambassadors from every single country in the world, who have
come
together to endorse a joint statement for Peace. It is also passed from
friend to friend and is lit by thousands daily as a dedication to
peace.

All of us who share this beautiful planet are aware of the power of
light.
We have all experienced the deep sense of renewal and joy that comes
to us
on the rays of the morning sun. The World Peace Flame is a new sun
spreading its rays across the earth.

PEACE DAY, 21 SEPTEMBER 2006 - HELP US UNITE THE WORLD

Dear Friends,
As I'm sure you are aware, in September 2001 the member states of
the
United Nations unanimously adopted a resolution to establish the UN
International Day of Peace, a day of global ceasefire and
non-violence, 21 September annually. The Peace One Day project
inspired and documented the creation of the Day and has since been
committed to informing the global community of its existence, with
a
view to manifesting an annual moment of global unity, as Peace Day
is
envisioned to become. As part of this effort, this year, with your
support, we hope to instigate Peace Day activities in all 191
member
states of the United Nations in accordance with the resolution.

It is for this reason that I am writing to you today to ask for
your
help. Thus far, we are delighted to have instigated activities in
observance of Peace Day on 21 September 2006 in over 170 countries,
but we do not as yet have a commitment from within the countries
below.

I would like to ask if you would consider making a commitment,
however
large or small, to observe Peace Day 2006, or passing this message
on
to someone who will. An observance of the Day can take many forms.
Previous years have seen commitments from every sector of society
from
governments to community groups to individuals. These commitments
have
ranged in scope from youth activities, public addresses and group
discussions, to just holding a minute's silence to reflect on
peace.
By making a commitment on any scale, you will make a major
contribution to the furtherance of our goal to unite the world on
Peace Day.

If you are able to make any commitment, either on, or in the lead
up
to, 21 September, please do let us know by emailing
web@peaceoneday.org so that we can add it to the website
www.peaceoneday.org to inspire others to get involved. The scale of
your Peace Day activity is not important; the commitment of
individuals to act on the Day is everything. May I reiterate that
even
holding one minute's silence at home or in your offices will be a
first step to raising awareness of Peace Day within your country!

I do want to say a final word about the term 'non-violence', and
why
its inclusion in UN GA Resolution 55/282 was so important. A call
simply for 'ceasefire' on 21 September was one that could easily be
dismissed as relevant only to those living in 'conflict zones'. The
inclusion of the term 'non-violence', coupled with an invitation to
'individuals' to observe the Day, means that 21 September becomes
relevant to us all, since every one of us has had some experience
with
one form of violence or another, whether in our home, school or
university or local community.

Thank you again for your support and I very much look forward to
hearing from you about any potential commitment you are able to
make.
If there is any further information you require, please don't
hesitate
to get in touch.

In peace.

Like Flowers in a garden

by puredawn @ 2006-08-11 - 17:39:29

We are all flowers in the Great Spirit's garden. We share a common root, and the root is Mother Earth. The garden is beautiful because it has different colours in it, and those colours represent different traditions and cultural backgrounds.

Hindu Prayer for Peace

by puredawn @ 2006-08-06 - 22:47:08

Oh God, lead us from the

unreal to the Real.

Oh God, lead us from darkness to light.

Oh God, lead us from death to immortality.

Shanti, Shanti, Shanti unto all.

Oh Lord God almighty, may there be peace in

celestial regions.

May there be peace on earth.

May the waters be appeasing.

May herbs be wholesome, and may trees and

plants bring peace to all. May all beneficent

beings bring peace to us.

May thy Vedic Law propagate peace all

through the world.

May all things be a source of peace to us.

And may thy peace itself, bestow peace on all,

and may that peace come to me also.

Jainist Prayer for Peace

by puredawn @ 2006-08-06 - 12:11:58

Peace and Universal Love is the essence

of the Gospel preached by all the

Enlightened Ones.

The Lord has preached that equanimity

is the Dharma.

Forgive do I creatures all,

and let all creatures forgive me.

Unto all have I amity, and unto none enmity.

Know that violence is the root cause of

all miseries in the world.

Violence, in fact, is the knot of bondage.

"Do not injure any living being."

This is the eternal, perennial, and unalterable

way of spiritual life.

A weapon howsoever powerful it may be,

can always be superseded by a superior one;

but no weapon can, however,

be superior to non-violence and love.

Buddhist Prayer for Peace

by puredawn @ 2006-08-03 - 17:48:44

May all beings everywhere plagued

with sufferings of body and mind

quickly be freed from their illnesses.
